Remember – The Shed started life as a storage facility for marquees, tables and chairs, which were used by the ‘Celebration of King’s Clipstone’ group to put on events in the village. Things altered when we were granted our own Parish Council in 2011. The playing field was purchased by the parish council from the Welbeck Estate and the storage shed became the village community hub.
Restrictions were eased as to what could be developed on the field, so the shed was converted into a proper meeting room complete with kitchen facilities and separate toilets were also built.
The village now has a good community space for all to enjoy.
Residents can also hire the shed and playing field for their own personal celebrations
Updates Since Our Last Newsletter
Coffee Mornings
February 2024 – At February coffee morning village resident Kim Abbott gave a great card making demonstration followed by residents making their very own Valentine/Easter cards.
March 2024 – At March coffee morning once again, resident Kim Abbott introduced a group of residents to willow weaving with a demonstration followed by an opportunity to ‘have-a-go’. This was a lot of fun and really enjoyed by all. Thank you, Kim for being so generous with your time.
Also, in March resident Hilda Bentley celebrated her 90th birthday in the Village Shed with a number of local dogs, their owners and other residents popping in to wish her ‘happy birthday’.
Hilda was born in the village, went to school in the village and remains in the same house she was born in. She is a great source of information on the history of the village.
April 2024 – At April coffee morning Janet Emery, a well know mosaic worker gave a talk and demonstration on mosaics which was really interesting hearing about the history of mosaics and how they are created.
If anyone is interested Janet does offer classes in mosaic working. Please contact Janet on
07751 117820.
May 2024 – Those who will be attending the May coffee morning on 8th May please bring a baby photo of yourself and enter the ‘name that baby’ competition. Just for a bit of fun but there will be a prize for the person who identifies the most babies.
