There’s regular activity trails and bikes to hire for people who want to explore the forest, or wild running trails and our red-graded Kitchener’s mountain bike trail for people who really want to push themselves.

We also have a number of adventure play areas, bushcraft experiences, Go Ape high ropes courses and outdoor live music events with top name headline acts for those wanting to experience the woodland in a different way.

Rufford Abbey

English Heritage

The best-preserved remains of a Cistercian abbey west cloister range in England, dating mainly from around 1170. Incorporated into part of a 17th century and later mansion, set in Rufford Country Park.

Owned by Nottinghamshire County Council and managed by Parkwood Outdoors in co-operation with English Heritage.

Sherwood Forest Railway

Sherwood Forest Railway

Sherwood Forest Railway, home of Nottinghamshire’s only narrow gauge steam railway, nestled in a valley in between Mansfield and the historic village of Edwinstowe.

A 5/8th scale, 15” gauge railway running through cuttings, over level crossings and across traditional farm land, our railway is run to the Narrow Gauge Railway principles where the little locos were used to build the foundations of roads, larger railways and water navigation’s of the late nineteenth and early twentieth century.
