Mower Fund Raising
Kings Clipstone Parish Council took delivery of a sit-on lawn mower thanks to the efforts of a young man who lives in the village, Oliver Vincent who is 14 years old and attends The Garibaldi School.
This very entrepreneurial young man, who uses the village playing field on a regular basis for football practice, had noticed that Alan Hunt, (the village volunteer gardener who keeps the field looking so good), sometimes cuts the field using an ordinary mower in between the Newark and Sherwood’s schedule cuts to ensure that the grass is at the right length for not only football training but for all residents who use the field for recreational purposes.
Oliver felt that for Alan to cut the field with a household lawn mower took a lot of hard work therefore he hatched a plan to set up a Go Fund Me page to raise funds to buy a sit-on mower for the village which would make Alan’s work a lot easier.
He approached Kings Clipstone Parish Council with his plan and gained permission from the council and went on to raise £1500.
Residents of the village and others showed great support and generosity, with one resident contributing £500 to the fund which was amazing.
The said mower was purchased from B and B Tractors, (Bowrings), of Warsop Windmill and was delivered on Thursday 15th February 2024.
Parish Councillor Nichola Stevens said the council is so impressed with Olivers community spirit and Alan Hunt commented that he can’t believe the thoughtfulness of someone so young.
